URM Adaptive reuse/Restaurant
"I liked the simple layout of the restaurant, although what may have stood out most...was the richness of the materials, some of which were older salvaged materials and others that were newer and polished." - Portland Architecture’s Brian Libby
After 30 years in business, the most trendsetting restaurant in the history of Portland needed a refresh. To upgrade the high-end Italian restaurant Genoa, Siteworks undertook a massive renovation and expansion that updated all existing systems, installed a modern kitchen, and created a comfortable dining room that is both high-end and approachable. The revamp added the neighborhood family restaurant Accanto, a casual extension of the legendary eatery, while Genoa itself was maintained as a destination restaurant. The new Genoa opened to much fanfare and accolades, both local and national, but the best compliments came from the many regulars and long-time patrons who say that space still felt like Genoa, their beloved restaurant of three decades.
